Seventeen buildings with close to 1000 homes will be built at the Tallawong Metro station as part of ambitious, multimillion-dollar plans for the land surrounding the public transport hub.
Developers Deicorp submitted a state significant development application for the massive new community on the doorstep of the Sydney metro Northwest to Blacktown Council in May.
The proposal is on public exhibition through NSW Planning’s Major Projects division.
A planner for the proposal said it would also provide 9000sq m of commercial floorspace and “a rich diversity of connections and spaces for residents, workers, commuters and the broader community”.
“Careful consideration has been given to the design and location of the various commercial and retail components of the project to ensure the achievement of a vibrant and active retail destination,” the planner said. The development will comprise of 252 one-bed, 783 two and 53 three- bedroom apartments including a total of 50 affording housing flats.
It will have basement carparking for 1368 cars a new public park, pedestrian and cycle connections, as well as upgrades to surrounding streets. “The proposal will fulfil the vision established for the Tallawong Station Precinct South site by Landcom and Sydney Metro,” the planner said.
The Tallawong Station residential and retail precinct was planned as the “crowning jewel” of the Sydney Metro northwest, under a $386 million vision by State Government development arm, Landcom.
News Local revealed the plans for the metro station site in 2018, with a NSW Planning spokeswoman telling the Rouse Hill Times the precinct was always destined to provide “substantial land release areas for housing and jobs in Sydney’s emerging Northwest”.
The development is on exhibition until July 22. Blacktown Mayor Tony Bleasdale was contacted for comment.
"The arrangement of the retail tenancies ensure that activation of the street edges & the park has been maximised & the development will likely comprise convenience goods, food, beverage, cafes &eating out, retail services, medical, child care, gym, & other non-retail shopfronts which serve the local demand of residents, workers & commuters."
